Engineering Services
In close partnership with our well-known sister company TÜV SÜD Automotive, the automotive department of TÜV SÜD Japan provides various engineering services including the following:
Vehicle Driving Performance
With experts from TÜV SÜD Automotive, TÜV SÜD Japan supports vehicle development. For example, steering stability, ride comfort, and safety are evaluated objectively based on data measurements. In addition, the results of subjective evaluation and benchmarking tests by highly experienced engineers are fed back to development by customers
Vehicle Development Using the Quality Function Deployment Method
By using an adapted version of the quality function deployment (QFD) method, where TÜV SÜD Japan begins with a market survey, collects market opinions from a wide range, and reflects them in vehicle development for technical solutions. Thus, market requests and customer opinions are fed back to vehicle development directly and securely to enable rapid development of vehicles, which precisely meet market and customer needs
Various Test Services
The main available services are as follows:
- Brake system performance development
- Suspension system development and endurance testing
- Engine exhaust emission and endurance testing
- Drive train testing (using a rig facility and controlling the load by each wheel)
- Hydrogen engine performance and function testing
- Tires and wheel testing (by using the test facilities of TÜV SÜD Automotive, the largest independent laboratory for tires and wheels in Europe)
Vehicle Collision Testing (ECV Crash System)
Adopting the ECV crash system (patented by TÜV Automotive) enables:
- Reproduction of actual accident conditions because the engine runs by itself
- Reduction of cost because large-scale facilities are not necessary
- Testing even under various car-to-car conditions, such as full-lap collision, offset, rear-end collision, and rollover
The system is used not only to test vehicles, buses, and large trucks but also to evaluate barriers and guardrails
